AI Innovation Day: AI applied to real-world workflows
On May 7, AIhub by Unicorn Factory Lisboa hosted AI Innovation Day: Real World Automations in Action, an event dedicated to showcasing how AI is already being applied today to specific business processes and challenges.
With over 80 participants and support from Cursor, Hostinger, and Microsoft for Startups, the event brought together founders, developers, operators, and innovation leaders to discuss, test, and share practical ways to apply AI in the day-to-day operations of startups and companies.
The afternoon began with the fireside chat Corporate vs. Startup: Who’s Winning with AI?, focused on the real challenges of AI adoption, from implementation speed to integration into existing teams and systems.
During the conversation, Inês Félix, Senior Data Scientist at Linde, highlighted the importance of trust in the tools, alignment with the business, and the existence of concrete use cases to ensure effective adoption. Rui Miguel Figueiredo, co-founder and CTO of DareData, emphasized that many companies remain constrained by legacy systems and infrastructure ill-prepared for AI integration, despite the enormous potential of automation in day-to-day operations. For António Alegria, co-founder and co-CEO of DOJO AI, the biggest mistake remains waiting for perfect conditions to start using AI. In startups, AI is already part of teams’ daily operations, from strategy to data analysis, debugging, and performance campaigns.
Following the discussion, the focus shifted to practical demonstrations of automation applied to real-world business problems, during which five practical examples of automation were presented. Autonurture was the winner, for demonstrating how AI-driven automation can generate concrete and measurable impact.
The event also featured hands-on workshops organized by challenge areas: Build, Grow, Sell, Explore. In small groups, participants worked on concrete challenges, identified opportunities for automation, and explored ways to transform repetitive tasks into smarter workflows.
